We took off Wednesday to head up to my Mom's for Thanksgiving. We had a really good time even though Jett didn't feel the best. Wednesday we had dinner with Stacey and Lance and the fam and then of course got up Thursday and got things ready for the big feast. We had it at my Mom's and we had a house full it was great we had: Grandpa and Grandma Blackburn, Steve, Lesa, Paige, & Rebekah, Lance, Stacey, and the kids, of course us and Mom and Dad, and then Lance and Stacey's neighbors which was fun they weren't doing anything until later so it was nice to have extra people to help eat all the wonderful food. Of course there was more than enough food and it was terrific I don't think my mom can ever cook anything that isn't good. Josh felt bad she gave away all her rolls and turkey, but we still enjoyed the left overs the next day. I wish I could eat more but now I am running out of room in my belly to eat a huge meal. I made sure I had room for dessert though - yummy yummy!
Friday we got up and went shopping over to Richfield with Jalene, why I don't know it was point less but we did anyway. After we put up my Mom's Christmas well some of it we didn't get to the tree because our little busy body keeps us pretty busy. It was fun to hang out with Jalene and Taylor a little that day they actually came over that night and had dinner and watched some of the Jazz game I just felt bad because Jett just wasn't feeling good so I couldn't give them my full attention.
We are actually taking Jett in to the doctor he had a fever for three nights in a row and he keeps pulling at his ears so I just think that his ear infections haven't totally gone away so hopefully we can get something figured out for him poor little guy. It's funny though he acts fine all day until nighttime and then it starts up.
It was crazy because Stockton didn't feel good Thursday and Stacey actually ended up having Tonsillitis her throat looked nasty that girl she is just a goer I told her she needed to just take a day to relax - but she didn't miss out on anything. She is a trooper I think she is feeling a little better, but hopefully her family doesn't get it.
Saturday we had the Blackburn Christmas party at 11:00 so we had to get up and going that day too of course I didn't do much my mom did it all but it was still a crazy morning getting everything packed up to head home after wards.
The party was fun we had brunch food - breakfast casseroles and pancakes, fruit, hot chocolate, etc plus all the yummy desserts. I wondered how it would be but it actually turned out really good. It was fun to see everyone, Miranda, Tiffany, and Terry came it was fun to see all of them the rest was the usual crowd, Scott and his family besides Brandon, Tammy and her family, us and Lesa and her family. Of course Jett was loving the new building and new territory to discover but by 2:30 and no nap he was ready to go so we took off a little early. We didn't even leave the parking lot before he fell asleep the crappy part is he can't sleep long in that car seat so he had a half hour nap that day.
I do have to say I was disappointed in our family though for the tradition musical chairs game where we usually have a champion - but it was a no go this year Lance got out and then a few times later went Josh it was funny everyone was pretty excited to see Josh get out. So Nathan said in his last e-mail that he will have to represent next year.
I was glad we decided to come home Saturday because Sunday there was a storm and big accident on the freeway which made it a process to get home I heard. I hate driving in that stuff so it was good to be home.
We did have a very sad incident happen over Thanksgiving - John Peterson a good friend of our families passed away. He fell on some ice and hit his head and it didnt' make it through. My dad served with him in the Bishopric, he home taught him and he was just a great neighbor and friend to us all. Everyone that new him would tell you what an amazing man he was. That is the short version of the story of course, but it is a really sad deal. He was a well admired man - so kind, so full of the light of Christ. He will definitely be missed. He has a great family and my heart aches for them - they are in our prayers. Something like this makes you step back and think about how anything can happen at any moment so don't take advantage of those around you that you love, tell them and show them everyday what they mean to you. Because you never know when some weird accident will happen and they will be gone. What a hard time of year to lose someone, but it makes you realize how Thankful you are for the family and friends you do have and all you have been blessed with. I think I am going to ride up with DayleMarie on Thursday to the funeral they actually asked my Dad to speak in it.
Well that was our week and weekend in a nut shell. Great times, and sad times, but all memories!
